What is Lent?
Lent is a sacred season of reflection, prayer, and preparation leading up to Easter. Just as Jesus walked toward the cross, we, too, are invited to enter his story—practicing holy moments in our daily lives. Whether through scripture reading, prayer, fasting, or acts of service, Lent is an opportunity to draw closer to God.
Okay, it may be a little weird, but we actually get kind of excited about Lent here at Lakeland! We get that it is a season of heaviness and suffering. But it’s also a chance to refocus, grow, and draw closer to God in a really intentional way.
How We’re Participating Together
We realize that everyone connects with Lent differently, which is why Lakeland offers a variety of ways to participate. Whether you are looking for a local church to call home or are just visiting a church in Lee’s Summit for the season, there is a place for you here.
- Special Services: We have services planned for us to gather in celebration of the Lenten Season.
- Lent Devotional: A guided journey to help you find those “holy moments” in the chaos of daily life.
- Lectio Divina Small Group: Dive deep into the Word through ancient contemplative practices.
- Family & Kid Activities: Our family ministry is dedicated to making Lent accessible and meaningful for all ages, with resources designed for parents and children to explore together.
- Meaningful Events: Throughout the season, we host gatherings designed to help our community pivot their focus back to Christ.
