Find Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, and Connection During This Special Season
It’s that remarkable time of year when our thoughts turn to miracles, wonder, hope, peace, joy, and love. We find ourselves seeking connections with each other and surprising our loved ones with gifts, all reminding us of the most amazing gift of all, the birth of Jesus Christ. The long wait for the King and the astonishing circumstances surrounding His birth are observed by local churches all over the world through Advent and Christmas Eve services.
Churches in Lee’s Summit and beyond observe Advent and Christmas Eve in different ways. A common theme for many churches is “light in darkness” and marking the wait for Jesus’ birth through traditions like the Advent wreath. The feeling of anticipation is often in the air, carols are sung, and stories from the Bible are shared and sometimes even acted out by members of the congregation.
However you celebrate Advent, it is sure to be a moving experience. If you’re looking for a church in Lee’s Summit that offers its own special approach to the Christmas season, come visit us at Lakeland Community Church.
Our local church’s gatherings and services are family-friendly, accessible, and steeped in tradition. There’s always room for something new at our church as well. This year marks the first Advent season under the guidance of our Lead Pastor, Reverend Dr. Vernon Burger. You can get to know him here.
What to Expect From This Year’s Advent Series at Lakeland
At our Lee’s Summit church, we embrace the traditions of lighting the Advent wreath, a candlelight Christmas Eve service, and unique touches that bring families together and offer surprises that all can enjoy, such as our Advent kits.
Lakeland Community Church is proud to announce the 2025 Advent series at our local church. This year’s series is titled Deep Faith: A Surprising Story. The miracle surrounding Jesus’ birth is a story for the ages, attesting to the faithfulness of a people waiting for their King who arrives in the midst of danger in a humble town and place. The Advent season reminds us to continually remain faithful in our words and actions and always be ready for an unexpected miracle to occur.
Services and gatherings: Celebrate this season of wonder and hope with us at our four Sunday gatherings! The Advent season at Lakeland Community Church is designed to be an intentional time for spiritual growth and the anticipation of Christmas. Our Sunday services and gatherings after church focus on building community and connection as families prepare their hearts with hope, peace, joy, and love.
Advent kits: One of our traditions at Lakeland is the giving of our Advent kits, which contain a weekly theme for families to explore, related to our sermon, along with an activity, game, devotion, and a delicious snack to enjoy. We encourage you to stay after church to engage with our Advent kit right at Lakeland!
